May 7th, 2021 by

You’ll love your Cadillac XT5 regardless of which trim you choose, but what are the features of the Luxury and Platinum trim levels? Read on to find out.

If you’re considering the Cadillac XT5, then the 2021 model is worth considering.

Several features come on the XT5, but getting exactly what you want is all about choosing the right trim package. Keep reading to learn about the differences between two of the most popular trim packages: the Luxury and Platinum trim levels.

Cadillac XT5

The XT5 first hit showroom floors in 2017 as a replacement to the discontinued SRX. This car-based SUV offers a wide selection of features that are sure to give this SUV broad appeal.

The exterior styling of this crossover will turn heads as you run errands. First, there are the 20-inch alloy wheels that make a statement, no matter what roads you’re on. Then there’s the distinctive grille design and sharp body lines.

There’s the innovative lighting that comes standard with LED headlamps that automatically switch between high and low beam. You’ll never accidentally blind oncoming traffic again.

They also cast light into the corners as you take them. This gives you increased visibility, which helps you drive better and improves safety.

Interior

The comfy interior of the XT5 has two rows of seats that can easily fit five people. The seats are spacious and offer both comfort and support. Even the second row reclines and slides.

The panoramic sunroof will give you a beautiful view of the sky as well as increased airflow. But it will also reduce the headroom for your rear passengers.

You’ll appreciate the elegant and modern feel of the high-quality materials throughout the interior. You’ll find soft and supple leather with wood accents.

Depending on the model you buy, heated and ventilated seats are an option. Heated rear-outbound seats are also available.

There’s plenty of room to stow your gear with 30 cubic feet of cargo space located behind the second row of seats. Fold the seats down and you more than double your cargo space at 68 cubic feet.

Technology

The XT5 comes with all of the latest technology that car buyers expect from their vehicles today. There’s an easy-to-navigate 8-inch touchscreen that also works with voice recognition.

Pair your smartphone through either Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. You could also connect your phone through Bluetooth or one of the four USB ports.

You can upgrade your system to include navigation and a Bose 14-speaker system instead of the standard eight-speaker system.

Performance

You’ll find that the ride is smooth and comfortable while also being responsive in the turns. The front-wheel drive is standard, but you can also choose the all-wheel drive option.

Under the hood is a powerful V6 engine that produces 310 horsepower. Paired with it is an eight-speed automatic. You can expect to get 19 miles per gallon in the city and 26 miles per gallon on the highway.

This fuel economy is better than the majority of models in its class. If you opt for the all-wheel-drive option, then the fuel economy reduces by one mpg.

When it comes to towing, you can pull up to 3,500 pounds. This should be enough to pull a jet ski or small trailer.

Reliability

Owners of the XT5 find them to be reliable and perform well. They come with a four-year/50,000 mile warranty that covers your XT5 from bumper to bumper. There’s also a six-year/70,000 mile warranty for the powertrain.

Safety

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration rated the Cadillac five out of five stars as an overall rating. It received five stars in the rollover and frontal crash ratings and five stars in the side crash ratings.

There are also several safety features to assist you while driving. The specific driver-assist features will vary based on the trim level you choose.

Trim Levels

There are four different trim levels available for the Cadillac XT5. The base model is the XT5, then moving up there is the Luxury, Premium Luxury, and the Platinum.

XT5 Luxury Trim

The Luxury trim package comes with a sunroof. There’s heating throughout on the steering wheel, seats, and outside mirrors. You’ll relax in the upholstered leather seats.

The technology will include wireless charging. There are also plenty of safety technology features included:

  • Front and rear park assist
  • Lane change alert
  • Blind-spot monitoring
  • Rear cross-traffic alert
  • Low-speed forward automatic braking
  • Front pedestrian braking
  • Following distance indicator
  • Forward collision alert
  • Lane keep assist
  • Lane departure warning
  • Automatic high beams
  • Safety alert seat
  • Rain-sensing windshield wipers

XT5 Platinum Trim

The Platinum trim level will come with everything that you’d get with the Luxury trim level, plus a few more features. You’ll have all-wheel drive as an upgrade to the performance.

The leather seats will also be upgraded. You’ll have a hands-free liftgate to make loading the back easier. For driver-assist technology, you’ll have these features:

  • Head-up display
  • Rear-camera mirror
  • Surround-vision camera
  • Adaptive cruise control
  • Forward and reverse automatic braking
  • Active park assist
